Cadets from the squadron regularly help out
charities through providing manpower to help with their fund-raising
events or by helping with collections. In the past
couple of years we have helped groups including:-
Chesterfield Shopmobility
Cadets bag packed in food hall of the Chesterfield
branch of Marks and Spencer Plc. As a result of their efforts, the
squadron was able to pass on a cheque for over £1500. This is enough to
buy 2 of the electric scooters shown in the photo. These scooters are
lent out to shoppers in the town who are unable to get around very well.
Ashgate Hospice
Cadets visited the hospice in December 06 to give a
carol concert. For most of the patients there, it would have been their last
Christmas.
Ability
The
cadets were Bag Packing again at M&S over Easter 05. Despite the holiday
period, the cadets raised £978 for the Chesterfield branch of "Ability"
This charity helps young people with learning difficulties
Royal Air Force Association
The cadets help every year with the RAFA Wings Appeal by
taking part in a street collection in Chesterfield on or around Battle
of Britain Day. The funds raised are used to improve the lives of ex-RAF
people of all ages. In September 2006, the squadron's cadets raised
nearly £500 for the Royal Air Force Association
Royal British Legion
The cadets also help every year with the street
collection for the Poppy Appeal on or around Remembrance Day in November
each year.
British Heart Foundation
The cadets have assisted with a number of BHF fund
raising activities by acting as marshalls for fun runs, bike rides etc
