331 (Chesterfield) Squadron is one of a number of units in Trent Wing that has its own squadron band (others include 866 (Immingham) and 119 (Scunthorpe). The band plays at events around Chesterfield such as summer fairs and school fetes. Band members are the only cadets other than Cadet Warrant Officers who are allowed to wear full No1 uniforms.

The band is open to all squadron cadets. Not being able to play an instrument is no bar to joining - the older band members teach the newer ones. New members can learn the Bugle, Cornet, Tenor Drum, Snare Drum, Bass Drum or Bell Lyre. Existing musicians are obviously welcome and we have members who play the flute, saxaphone and clarionet.

Once a cadet has reached a certain standard of ability, they are awarded the relevant badge to wear on their brassard (see below).
