Shooting Awards

As your shooting improves, you will be able to test your accuracy and attempt to qualify for one of the seven different Marksmanship standards. Any of the awards can be gained with any of the ATC approved rifles.

AWARD BADGE
Second Class Shot - this is the 'easiest' award to gain but is still quite difficult. It is based on shooting a number of grouping practices and demonstrating consistently good shooting

No badge awarded but cadets may fire L98 rifle if they have passed the L98 WHT and are over 14 years old

First Class Shot - a little harder

No badge awarded - keep trying
Squadron Marksman - still based on grouping, you need to be very good to qualify
Wing Marksman - this requires the shooting of Grouping, Application, Snap and Rapid Practices
Regional Marksman - as above but a higher score must be achieved.
Corps Marksman - a slightly different set of practices - only the very highest scores will gain this award
